Acoustical Properties of Four Baroque Theatres

Abstract: This paper step by step maps interior acoustic parameters of the Baroque theaters in the world. Some of the baroque theaters were preserved in their original form. There are only 5 such theatres in the world: the baroque theatre in Český Krumlov (Czech Republic), Litomyšl (Czech Republic), Gotha (Germany), Drottningholm (Sweden) and Versailles (France). Until now we have conducted research in Český Krumlov and the Drottningholm, the chateau theatre in Litomyšl and in Gotha. The acoustic simulation of all theatres was performed using ODEON® software. All models were calibrated according to measured reverberation time in the theaters. In this paper a comparison of the mentioned theatres is performed from point of view of acoustics and interesting other aspects.
